JL Special Edition-Behind Enemy Lines

Greetings to my aUDIENCE OUT THERE !!
welcome back to the greatest blog on this side of earth- without an audience !! cheers to all and love to the worthy!!
been some time since my last post and as usual, i've successfully managed to violate my promise of posting atleast once in 15 days, but a lot has been on my platter since the last time and by the look of things, a lot of things, my plater will continue to overflow for a long time. arrived in the university on the 4th of this month and life looks like a 24hr roller coaster ride ever since. the hostels are pretty good though the less said 'bout the food, the better.the whole hostel's like one huge joint family, everybody's pretty cool and willing to help and uptil now has been united in every decision(which could also mean joining hands to pull down somebody's pants), everybody is a wisecrack, a crazy genius, a joke machine and either a sports enthu or a sci-fi geek rolled into one, which makes up for some pretty cool discussions and some crazy games.but life here is also a 24 hr boot camp, the classes are atleast 2 km away from the hostel hence forcing us to trek to the class early in the morning after breakfast and a trek back to the hostel in the evening . and the weather only adds to our misery, the weather at this time of the year oscillates between a very bright and harsh sun or extremely heavy rainfall accompanied by some pretty scary lightning.though th weather is not unpredictable because of it's 'timetable'ish approach, it's intensity pretty much makes up for it's predictability.however the resources here are excellent , our workshop has numerous machines(the whole thing could compete with a small factory) and skilled technicians and looks like i'll finally be able to counter my bad 'hand-eye' coordination and create something useful.
The only thing or rather animal, er.. organism that seems to be bothering me ever since i'm here is my crappy room partner, the guy could defeat a team of the biggest jackasses in the world single handedly. he and his antics force me to leave my room at 8:00 in the morning and re-enter at 9:00 in the evening.the dude deserver a noble prize for 'piece': for having a huge piece of ass!-sample this- the guy wakes me up from my beauty sleep, sometime after midnight just to tell me that there has been a power cut!? i mean what the hell is he trying to do give the sardars a leg up on the list of intelligent species? more on him and his antics on a new blog called 'The Misadventures Of GR', the reason i'm compiling the dude's antics is if i survive the 6 months he is my partner and i go on in life and end up stuck in a problem, i could always browse through the blog and tell myself, there are problems bigger that this out there!
that's all for this time, will try to write an intro post for the new blog and post a link here sometime next week.

'til next time,
extremely angry and frustated,

Harry up, before the world gets a little less potty!!

ahoy all you muggleheads !!

yup my next blog is 'bout the world's most famous boy wizard-
two years gone by and the world is back to celebrating what seems to have became an international festival in the last decade- the harry potter book release festival!!(apparently the movie release is a much much smaller festival, celebrated only by the everchangin' HP director and the leading trio).
JK rowling gets back to doing what she does best and better than anybody alive(Tolkien's dead isn't he?!) - dishing out adventures of a teenager wizard living in a world which is ours too but different in more ways than one, and lacing it up with humour, moral, emotions, relationships... phew!! boy that's more than you get in a standard lay's pack! the seventh and (celebrate!!) not the last book but probably the last in the series of the continuing adventure of harry potter and his friends-deathly hallows is out and is selling faster than the fastest snitch! the book has already become the fastest and largest selling book in history.. ever!
but the book do justice to all the hype? well if you ask me it does and more importantly it proves that rowling is a lot more than just a 'fun' kiddy books writer. the book's way darker than all the others, the whole manuscript seems to be written by rowling at a diner overlooking a graveyard!(oh yah harry survives all right,but..) humour is toned down so that the message of the series drives home, rather than having the reader guffaw at 'vomit toffee' or 'neville and ron' jokes, which is quite a suprise, considering that they were the series mainstay and USP.but it still makes the book quite a good read.
the story starts with harry making a dash to the burrow with his auror pals riding on the pillion of hagrid's bike, and a brilliant plan(simple but effective), the plan falls through and mad-eye loses his eye-and his head and george loses his ear(and feels all holey) courtsey snape. what follows is a run-up to bill and fleurs weddings mixed with harry discovering that there were still a lot of secrets to be discovered(dumbledore wasn't exactly a demigod after all, or was he?). the trio however has to make the run for it as the wedding is attacked and take shelter first at Grimmaulds Place and then at various camping grounds.in the process harry discovers the family mail, and RAB-Regulas Black,Sirius's bro, the Gauntstone horcrux. however what follows after all this agreed to be by most fans the books most boring and weakest part, days of camping and searching, arguing, food scavenging, hiding, the works.the only explaination that JKR could give is that she made the part boring and mechanical so that the reader gets harry's frustation during the period.the only intresting part is a showdown between a voldy controlled nagina in the disguise of a bathilda bagshot(know this is confusing)- an old timer harry expects to know something 'bout dumbledore and his family, and harry and hermione where harry almost dies.
the sidetracks also contains of numerous intresting stories, a story of dumbledore and his beginnings, about his family and his friends or rather his friend and a scandal Rita Skeeter digs up; a story of the 3 deathly hallows- a elder wand(a wander that will never lose a duel), a resurrection stone(a stone that sort of brings the dead back, sort of..) and the invisible cloak(the very same!) and how they came into being and their footprints through history; and flashes of voldys life that harry gets to see courtsey his scar-voldy's present and past;the death eaters take over of the ministry, and everything along with it-the muggle wizards leniency, azkaban, freedom and piece and top it with something of their own-a 'voldemort' curse and a muggle wizards registration panel and of course power.
all the stories tie up together in the brilliantly written last chapters which tells the story of the great hogwarts war- how a school filled up of mostly underaged wizards, peaceful teachers and a handful aurors managed to bring down voldy and his death eaters(yup a dozen characters die here too). also the last chapters reveal snape's true loyalty to dumbledore and his memories-his life times, probably the best part of the book describing the life and times of a prince-severus snape. and last but definately not the least harry's showdown with voldy, how the deathly hallows connects to him, and how harry(or rather 'one') becomes the true master of death. dumbledore makes a comeback in the last episodes as harry meets him on the platform for the 'train' to st. peters, where he(or rather rowling) wraps up the series by answering all and all the questions and revealing all the secrets, thanks to which harry comes back and kicks voldys arsse !
the last chapter and probably the most loved and hated chapter of the series, the epilogue is titled 19 yrs later, describes a harry 19 yrs later married to ginny and off course a happily married ron and hermione, each with a bunch of kids. describes the day harry's second son and ron's daughter are leaving for hogwarts.the chapter is rowling's masterstroke.rowling probably realized that killing the character would probably not be a perfect excuse to refuse writing any other HP books as has been the case with holmes and superman. so she catapults the reader to a time where harryis 19 yrs older, who wants a harry with middle aged problems?the chapter in itself however is a charm-great to see our hero living his life, handing out advice to his kids, similar to dumbledore. it ends with the perfect line ever, The scar had not pained Harry for nineteen 19 years, all was well.

yup all is well, except our boy wizard and his adventures which brought sunshine into many's lives and probably whose end would wake a lot of people from a decade old sweet slumber.

'til next time
a little less pottier

A painful journey, a new town, my next stop and an unexpected guest:-

Hey,

have been pretty busy the last couple of days, had got an allotment letter for an institute(SMVDU) in jammu, left in the evening day before yesterday, arrived early morning tomorrow, oh yah and for 3 days, me and my dad haven't even seen a bed, forget sleeping in one. one hectic journey this, travelled by bus, a painful 12 hrs journey(try spending a night on a bus seat, y'll know how painful it is) got down at the bus stop, brushed our teeth, had a bath, breakfast, left for the institutes office(not to mention an hour trek in the sun trying to find the place with a suitcase in one hand), another 1 hr bus ride to campus(swell place!!) admission formalities-filling out forms, checking out hostels, canteens etc, getting back to the bus adda(yup another bus ride and a 500m trek to the bus), another 12 hr bus ride(ok try spending two consecutive nights on a bus seat) and finally back home at 6:00 am yesterday, boy just writing all that stuff gives me the creeps.

anyway finally got admitted to a college, will be staying in a hostel there so my next blog could well be from katra(yah that's what the place is called). loved the place, situated right in the middle of a valley, need travel an hour by bus on a typical mountain road with, numerous twists, turns, tunnels and oh yah -pink face, red buts, long tails and a weird expression, you guessed it right-monkeys!! the place is monkey country. anyway back to the campus, beautiful place, red brick duplex buildings, vast fields, canteens, coffee shops, mountain streams, a hude auditorium, awesome hostels(brand new, expecially for us baby!!), surrounded all 'round by hills, one hell of a place, i would give up my guitar to study in a place like this(come to think of it, maybe i am giving it up). campus life starts on 4th of August and school starts 8th.
am really looking forward to the place, a bit nervous, but hey if i wasn't nervous, then maybe i wouldn't be excited either(or vice versa)!! only cons is that the place is slightly cut-off from journey which is not a big deal unless you have a lot of luggage (which i will have the first time i go there), lot of construction work going, numerous building coming up but will be complete sometime in the next few months, and looks like they would turn out to be great pieces of architecture adorning our campus. the nearest town is about 12 km away(katra enroute vaishno devi) and of course there's jammu but you need a one hour bus ride to reach the city. hope this the stepping stone i was looking for all these years.

as for jammu, great place, well planned, good roads, green trees, but bad weather capital!! hot during daytime(hotter than delhi i think), the sun drains out all your energy and a 20 min walk
could end up looking like a 20 days trek(trust me, i've experienced the pain). guarded by army and police throughout the day and the year i guess(oh yah!! the place is sort of a volatile region, talk 'bout thrill) , public transport systems are pretty good but a taxi ride could cost you a bomb! most building are new and the place is one street shopping paradise.
and now for the part i've been waiting for the most, a few days back an unexpected guest decided to crash land into our garden cum balcony. early morning 7:00, mom goes to water the plants and suddenly screams out my name loud!! i reach there to find out a baby pigeon, that crash landed in the balcony during it's first test flight and was hiding in the sanctity of a flower pot. i tried to grab hold of it, but it was faster than me and hid behind another pot, we tried to remove it to get to it, but it just ran to hide behind another(talk about birdbrain, being smart), after shifting a few more pots and a few unsuccessful attempts to get to the bird, we came up with a plan, mom tried to scare it so that it ran in a direction where i was already standing with my hands wide open for the bird,Gottcha Tweety!!.we decided to put it on top of an almirah in the balcony where a couple of pigeons were already breeding(yup our balcony is pigeon country),but just as i was about to put it down, it's wings gave such a flutter that i was taken aback and i let it go and it landed in a corner near out cooler. agian we tried to scare the bird out of the corner, but when it didn't budge we poked it with a it ran and hid.. in a corner of the balcony where it was impossible to get it out. but as we weren't having any more dead pigeons in our balcony, ahem, i went ahead and dragged it with my hand and i think it bruised its neck in the process(so we had a pigeon with an injured wing and a bruised neck).set it on the almirah and gave it food(rice grain) and water and went away so that it could it, but 'birdbrain' refused to budge and kept calling it's mother(instictively i guess), but heard a flutter after a couple of minutes and saw 3 grown up pigeons fly away, while the younger one while trying to fly crashlanded again, on top of the cooler, placed it' food and water there cause it squeeked in protest every time i tried to move it, so we just let it be. also covered it with an old piece of cloth as the sun wasn't taking mercy on anybody, and it was scorching hot, every time i tried to force the water container into it's beak it just stayed there withit's beak in the water refusing to drink any. when i came back after a couple of hours, and forced the beaker into his beak, he turned and looked at me for a second and i guess with a look of gratitude(or stupidity?!), went back to the conatiner and started drinking like it hadn't had water for days(probably it didn't), it was crazed by the heat and didn't care anymore if i was friend or foe. looked much better now, now that he had quenched his thirst but still refused too eat. spend the night there with us, staying at the same place, sis and dad also seem to hav taken a liking to the thing, even though sis maintained a distance. looked much up and about the next day, and though i didn't see it, i guess he had some the grain and water without me forcing him too. about 12 noon heard another sqeaking noise from the bacony, and made it just in time to see him make a runup, jump from one pot to another and then finally takeoff, maybe a bit experienced but he managed to fly a couple of metres before landing on another balcony, and after another trot, took off and flew around a wall where i couldn't see him any more. well goodbye little buddy, hope you enjoyed your time here, come back any time you want to and hope you have a great life.

cheers to the baby pigeon,

'I get By wIth A liTtle hELp FrOm my FRIendS' !!

hello my imaginary audience !

6 months gone by and time for my next post(seriously, got to work on the frequency of these posts!). Have been sitting at home for quite some time doing nothing in particular, worked on my guitaring skills and seem to progressing pretty fast(yup, clapton's layla is on the fingertips). and have been living and breathing GnR for the last couple of days, no surprise my guitar riffs are starting to sound and behave like slash, though off-course not as emotional(the guy is god). recently discovered Van Halen(boy, can eddie solo!), no to mention The Doors(This is the end, my friend!) and The Early Pink Floyd(Syd Barret-Long live crazy diamond!!) .and for everybody wondering, yah i spent the last three months downloading music and playing songs on my guitar, extremely tired and bored of life, nothing to do except sit in front of the cooler or AC, and downloading powertabs, but has been kind of fun.
Met many school friends after a long time yesterday, kind of fun, i guess like the old days, but over a period of time have become quite an introvert, enjoy the company of my guitar more than anything else. anyways we went 'round CP talking bout all times, having a few burgers and drowning them with milkshakes, sat down in the central park and watched the sun set into the horizon which was a curious mix of busy shoppers, chaat wallas and some very elegant water fountains. loads of fun actually now that it all comes back to me.
Oh yah before heading for CP, went in search of a guitar shop in the middle of nai sarak,chandni... and as usual disappointment, loads of disappointment. why can't a music shop make more place for some guitars, i mean who buys a truckload of 'dholaks' anyway? i mean seriously can't you make a little place for some guitars and amps, they are smaller than most instruments! this guy charges me 7000 bucks for an amp that a guitar shop in calcutta was selling me witha great givson electric guitar for 7000 bucks !! i mean how do u spell 'daylight robbery' ?! pity i didn't buy the guitar from calcutta, loads of luggage, impossible to tug it all along.
and talking of calcutta, yup i went back there in the summer vacations this year, wasn't intrested to go back after flunked the IIT's,DCE(got through AIEEE however, will get a seat and yah ERAU's in the pipeline). anyways spent most of the days bored to death, sweating like crazy(you won't believe the humidity there). had a few days of fun however, went to mashi's house for a couple of days and used to go swimming with mesho every morning, sharpened up my swimming skills and am a lot better swimmer than last year. also my first time in an actual pond, i actually enjoyed it more than the pool, no chlorine sticking to your body when you get out of water(big relief!!) also went to a water park called aquatica with my sisters and mesho one day. lOaDs Of fUn!! loved the slides as always especially the one that opens up in a huge bowl with the hole in the centre, not to mention the wave pool with the 6.5 foot high waves. loved this one slide a lot, shaped like a 'V', kind of like the bowls the serve you banana split in, minus the sides. the things about 6 floors high, you go up with a tube. the arm of the 'V' which you slide down from is actually fall down from is very steep, yo fall down at almost zero gravity(which is a thrill in itself!), you hit the bottom and go up the other arm of the 'V' and i swear i thought i was going to fly off the edge!! anyways just when you get the feeling, good ol' gravity pulls you down and you undergo an oscillatory motion of sort at the end of which you end up at bottom. another awesome ride is a long slide which is actually a large number of slide joined together, each slide ends in a small pool, and the last one ends in a hude pool, a kiddy ride basically but what the hell !!
Yup, that's all folks!! (I hope porky desn't sue me, anyways i got no audience why would he?! hee hee hee!!) . 'til next time stay healthy, wealthy, wise and remeber to brush your teeth cause global warming is rising and we could do without a few poisnous gases!!

Yours Truly,
One and Only,

ThE bLuEs

Ok people, this post is slightly old, was written at a time when my life seemed to be a roller coaster ride with no seat belts(believe me the ride is still on, though i managed to find some seat belts), am trying to fix my '6 months hiatus' disease and off course 'twas an important part of my life, so if nobody else reads it, i would want to read it some time later.peace out!!
-

Have been going through a rough patch couple of days, bad news pouring in faster than you can say 'hoochimaama'(no idea where that patch of sunshine came from). worked very hard for the IIT's this year, put in a lot of hard work and even more time, no guitar lessons, and TV reduced to half an hour a day, haven't gone out of my house for weeks at an end, extremely dissapointed to see it all gone down the drain, all over again. and before i could get over it was hit hard on my face with the DCE results. managed to get a 22000 in AIEEE, apparently is enough to get a seat definately hope so.
was extremely broken down when the results where announced, now i guess it's more frustation than dissapointment and failure, people walk up and tell me that i shouldn't take it too seriously and just let it pass, but they don't get it, it ain't about the pain when i fall down, it's more of am I worth it all, or should i just forget and choose a new road or something, or am I just destined to fall down i even try to get up and fight, never have been this skeptical or pessimistic before, guess the wounds from falling again and again have finally reached a point where they are hurting me, especially cause i am someone who is way to ambitious.
hopefully will manage to get out of this ditch soon, but i doubt if i'll be able to get out with my pride and ambitions unscathed, i hope i do, that's the only thing that's kept me going for the 18yrs of my life past all the hurdles, though i managed to upturn loads of them before. found an intresting mail talking 'bout luck and how i depends on the perspective of people, seems to be working already, hopefully will help me get through all this ruckus, beautiful, peace of 'online literature', will post it sometime on the blog for everybody to read, probably will end up changing a few lives.
all for now hopefully, will get over this by the next blog, life's gotto go again, got no other option, and if life's go to go on, well so have I.

A little less depressed and,
Already a smile playing on ma face,

Rise from the ashes !! (believe it or not ashes is what the last6 months can b described as !)

ladies, gentlemen and everything in between( he he !!)

welcome back to the biggest show on earth( maybe i'm the one that needs to be welcomed back .. but what the hell !)

ok my invisible audience (i'm still hoping thatthere were a few guys who went through this site but didn't post a comment. ) hope the last 6 months of your life have been rock 'n' roll'ish'(mine certainly weren't..)but was able to work on a certain number of things that have been bugging me for a long time- much better guitar solos, a better voice control and definately a much better control on my spoken english !(he who speaks speaks because thee knows he will.. whatever that means). so your truly one and only- the juggernaut is back in action and ready to kick off his second innings.

numerous topics seem to be going round and round in my mind(welcome back to the team dada!) so am not able to focus on anyone of 'em with my full concentration. so i guess this post will be a miscellaneous post, a pot-pouri of all that my thought process can lay it's hand on currently.

RIP- G.Duke(1999-2006 AD), Amen JNAuT, SlAsH it DowN
